What we collect, and why

No cookies, no advertising and no third-party trackers. Here is everything this site and the newsletter record about you, and how to have it deleted.

Right now: sign-ups are not open yet, so we hold no email addresses. Reading this site records nothing about you beyond what our hosting provider needs to deliver the page, described under "Reading the site" below.

Who we are

Froth Watch is published by sender name (and ABN if sending as a business). You can reach us at contact address about anything on this page.

If you subscribe

Your address
Your email address, and the lists you chose (the weekly issue, and alerts if you opt in). We use it only to send you Froth Watch.
Your consent
When you signed up, from which page, and when you clicked the confirmation link. Australian law (the Spam Act 2003) requires us to be able to show that you asked for the newsletter.
Opens and clicks
Whether each email was delivered and opened, and which links in it you clicked. We use this to see which issues and items readers find useful. Open counts are rough: some mail apps, such as Apple Mail, load every email in advance.

Every email has an unsubscribe link that works in one click, with no login. It takes effect at once.

Reading the site

The site sets no cookies and loads nothing from other companies. Its fonts are served from froth.watch.

Our hosting provider, Amazon CloudFront, processes your IP address to deliver each page, and gives us totals such as page views by country, browser and device. We do not receive or store IP addresses.

Issue pages will also send a small, cookie-free note when you leave the page: which issue you read, how long it was open, how far you scrolled, and the country and city CloudFront works out from the request. It contains no identifier, so it cannot be linked to you or to your subscription.

How long we keep it

  • Your subscriber record: while you are subscribed. When you unsubscribe we delete your lists and engagement records, and keep only your address and the date, so that we never mail you again by mistake.
  • Opens and clicks: 13 months, then they are deleted.
  • Reading statistics: kept as totals per issue. They cannot be traced to a person.

Where it is stored

On Amazon Web Services in the United States (the us-east-1 region). Email is sent through Amazon Simple Email Service. Amazon processes the data on our behalf and does not use it for its own purposes. We never sell, rent or share your data.

Your choices

  • Unsubscribe from any email with one click.
  • Ask for a copy of what we hold about you, or ask us to correct or delete it, by writing to contact address. We reply within 30 days.
  • If you are unhappy with our answer, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

Changes

If this page changes in a way that affects subscribers, we will say so in the next email. Last updated 26 October 2026.
